The 1789 revolution broke out in Paris, being the privileged scene of numerous events. The economic crisis, the raising of the political awareness of the Parisian people by philosophers, and the resentment of the monarchy which had abandoned Paris more than once, triggered the anger of the people, led to the fall of the monarchy with the storming of the Bastille, and culminated with the beheading of the king Louis XVI and of his wife Marie-Antoinette.
